Federico Giove is the coordinator of the project. He received a MSc in Physics and a PhD in Biophysics from the Sapienza University of Rome, where he currently works for the Enrico Fermi Center. His research interests include human brain function and metabolism, and the relevant alterations in some neurological diseases (neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy). His experimental work is focused on the characterization, by functional MR imaging and spectroscopy, of metabolic and functional transients during brain activation, with special emphasis on neurovascular and neurometabolic couplings. Recently he started a theoretical biophysics approach, aimed at a quantitative interpretation of the main experimental results about dynamics of brain function obtained by quantitative NMR, within a framework able to highlight the intercellular nutrients trafficking, as well as to elucidate the functional and energetic partnership between cellular populations in the brain. He published more than 45 papers on international journals, he is Associate Editor of teh journal Frontiers in Physics and he was guest editor for the journal Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He is reviewer for many international journals.
